Trains carry coal from the mountains of West Virginia to Port Covington on this spectacular layout depicting
the Western Maryland Railroad. Set in the fall of 1972, diesels rule. With their on-board sound system thundering,
you can feel the power when the diesels hit the steep grades in the mountains.
The port features a coal pier with a high lift rotary dumper and an ocean-going bulk freight carrier. The car float
is modeled after the prototype as are the two tug boats. All of these structures are scratch built to the highest
level of detail.
Fall colors created by "Forest in a Flash" set the scene in the mountains. Over two thousand trees were used on
this layout.
You know you are in West Virginia when you see the trailer homes, vintage cars and coal mines. The Western Maryland
truly lives on in this colorful layout.
