Aiken South Carolina Railroad Museum Project
Scale: HO
CMR is building a series of model railroad dioramas for a new museum in Aiken
South Carolina. Each diorama is roughly twenty square feet in size and represents
scenes along the Southern Railway in 1916.There will be nine dioramas in all.
Every structure will be built from the ground up and will be as accurate as possible.
This will be a long project so you will see photos of this for quite a while.
We are currently almost finished with the towns of Aiken, Aiken "East", Blackville and Branchville, photos are below. We still have
some details to add. Under construction are Summerville and Denmark.
If you click on the images you can download a larger image for your review. Please note these are quite large.
Aiken
It is a hot humid day in Aiken, the year is 1916. The tracks split
with the foreground track in the "cut" and the other branching off towards
the station.
The trolley line ends at the station.
Looking west on Park Avenue.
Looking east on Park Avenue towards Kershaw. The blue house still stands.
Denmark
The Denmark Hotel.
Blackville

Where the wealthy people lived, the brick building is
the Shamrock Hotel.
The conical water tower is typical of those built in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Nice day for a swim!
Branchville
The town of Branchville is taking shape.
The Aul House.
The Merchant Hotel.
Small East Coast Layout
Scale: HO
Size: 10' x 10'
Controlls: DCC
Signalling: Oak Tree Systems
This layout is almost complete, the roads and rocks need to be painted,
then we add some flocking, shrubs and trees
and it will suddenly look like a miniature world. Most of the buildings
are completed and ready to install.
Overview of the layout.
One of the layout sections up on end showing the wiring.
One of two control panels for the signaling.
Typical signal bridge.
Scale: O
Size: 10' x 10'
Controlls: Cab Control
Set in New Mexico this switching layout is a lot of fun to operate. This project has ben delivered.
East Coast Corridor in HO scale
Scale: HO
Size: 30' x 30'
Controlls: DCC

We have jsut started the bench-work on this project. It looks to be very exciting with a four track mainline

Union Station
Scale: HO
Size: 48"W x 10"D x 10"H tall
This is one of our favorite stations to build. It has large windows that allow you to see the
fully detailed interior.
Judy's Jams & Jellies
Scale: HO
Size: 15.5"W x 5"D x X 7.75" tall
We have a client whose wife makes the most amazing jelly and jam. Whenever we stop by, we leave with
a handful of jars and smiles on our faces. So we named a factory in her honor.
A Jelly factory? What were we thinking? Well... think of the possibilities, fresh fruit
from the south, jars from the glass factory, labels and boxes from the printer, sugar from
the refinery... sorry, no chemicals or preservatives here. And then it all goes back out as freight
to the grocery wholesaler. That could be quite a bit of rail traffic.
This is scheduled to become a kit sometime next year. We will be making several kits to help transition
from downtown to the warehouse district along the tracks.
Scale: HO
Size: About 36" tall

This is one of our favorite strucutres that we build. It lights up beautifully! You can click on
